funny combination, this very german "kartoffeln" together with the very french "gratin". anyway, a very tasty combination:
i buttered an oven dish (20*30cm), and preheated the oven to 180°c, then peeled about 6 medium potatoes, cut them into very thin slices. in the dish i laid slices, then a mixture of estragon and parsley and on it grated parmesan. repeated until no more potatoes. mixed 1 cup double cream with 1 cup cream fresh (or the german "schmand"), 2 eggs, salt, black pepper, nutmeg and poured on top with more parmesan. to the oven for about 1 hour. meanwhile set the table, open red wine and light the candles. corruption! bon apetite!
