london...
i'm trying to define london in few words - ridiculous!
london,
is kind of a mixture between futuristic city and a totally decadent city.
i mean, where else do you see such a composition as this:
but at the same time these small hidden mews coloured in those pastel lovely colours
these old chimneys from which you are sure that you'll see mary poppins jumping in a minute
or those busy streets
and still place for a curious squirrel,
where you expect to meet either sherlock holmes or james bond, but sometimes it's only a jedi that you meet
and you are not sure if he is the real one or maybe the police man on the other street.
when anyway both of them speaks exactly in the same tone as if they just met the queen.
they say "in case we land on water..." during flight and it sounds as if they just said:
"how do you like your tea, love? with one or with two spoons of sugar?"
the same tone for the same purpose - in every single moment, they are ready to serve the queen.
if she will appear suddenly in the pub around the corner, they won't lose their temper, they will know exactly what to do and what to say to her.
at the same time that the queen walks in, there is no place for shoes at home...
(and indeed we wondered whether the queen tend also to keep her shoes in this same way...)
it's the only city in the world where you open the hot water and the cold water and wonder how do you suppose to get warm water to wash your face,
they won't save money or time in order to save a tree while renovating the house.
and it's the city where side by side live in peace red buses and other sweet creatures
and where you often wonder what is real and what is artificial...
what belongs in the gallery
and what belongs in the street
i'll spare you the best coffee, the best restaurant or the best fish & cheeps...
it's foolish to believe there is such a thing in such a big city
and any way we didn't have the money for it.
we had to enjoy m&s salads on a bank in the park which reminded us those times when we visited london as students.
(but do not give up the scones!)
we returned exhausted home and immediately started to miss london again.
